Being one of the largest with 30,000 to 50,000 members all over the United States, Central America, and Mexico. This street gang had started in the Rampart District of Los Angeles around 18th Street and Union Ave. 18th Street was originally part of the Clanton 14 but wanted to make their own clique called Clanton 18th Street to allow immigrants to join. Clanton 14 did not allow the new clique forcing them to make 18th street. Ever since the two gangs have been in a rivalry. The gang members in 18th Street have strict rules in place for them. Breaking these rules can lead into a 18 second beating or if they had did a huge offense then they will be executed. They also represent symbols to signify 18 for example 666, 99, XV3, and XVIII. 18th Street is also known as the "Children's Army" they are know as this because they are known for recruiting a lot of elementary and middle-school kids. Some gang members also like to represent the gang by getting tattoos. You might see some members with the number 18 tattooed somewhere on their body, for example, the neck, back. face, head, etc... It is mostly common for members to tattoo the 18 on their face in El Salvador. The gang is one of the most feared in Los Angeles having committed over 250 homicides in Los Angeles alone over the past 10 years. Atleast one person a day in the Los Angeles county gets assaulted or robbed by 18th Streeters. One of 18th Streets main source of income is selling off cocaine and marijuana into the streets. They have also been known for making money through murder, murder-for-hire, extortion, arson, drug trafficking, illegal immigration, human trafficking, kidnapping, vandalism, amongst other things.
